I look back on the week somewhat amazed, both at the events and the strange treatment of them in the press and wonder what lies in the future, as a sort of lawlessness now permeates once civilised societies.

The reason I ask is because I would prefer it if people stopped asking me. I have no idea. Just as well. That would require an exploration of the darker inner reaches of your mind and that thankfully is not my line. Ultimately it's a question for you really. Just as ultimately it's up to you to do something about it.

Hiya, Webdiary tragics. I wondered if any of you are feeling as strange and disbelieving as me while watching what happens when the emperor is seen to have no clothes. Is there a media debate going on about what inquiries our nation needs to have in the wake of the British revelations?

It is strategically important for the Liberals to put the Greens candidate last at least in Melbourne and explain why. It is because this party has become a carrier of extremist policies many of which have nothing to do with the environment.

There's something especially contemptible about attacking scientific research. Messing around with the genes of wheat is hardly vivisection so this is straightout rank and irrational fear of the unknown. Next thing the Greens will be baying at an eclipse.  A good thing Halley's comet is decades away. With this bunch it would spark a leadership spill.

The Carbon Tax is not going to make one iota of difference to whether our grandchildren have a Great Barrier Reef. What it will achieve is a rapid exodus of Australian manufacturing. Australia, the land of solar roofs, manufactured in China. Australia, the overseas-owned quarry.

The real wolves, back in the US are likely sharpening their knives (teeth?) in its wake, to find out who will be the new tycoon when the old man gets kicked upstairs.

It's to be hoped that Julia willl vindicate the need today, and that the propoganda war being fought on the issue will be assuaged and mollified.. but don't count on it!

Obviously the ramifications for Murdoch spread much further than the readership of this one newspaper.  However popular it might be, he''s prepared to sacfice this journal so that the tarnish of perceived lack of journalistic integrity doesn't spread to his other titles across the world.

The gist of the SMH story is that while 20 SAS troops removed a busload of "enemy" from their vehicle, searched them and recorded their details, it was the lone American soldier who formally took them prisoner.

In other words, nope, you won't see a Jesus-son-of-God billboard in Iran.. The Iranians don't think he is.  However, Christianity has been aware of Jesus' Islamic status for a very long time.

In the Tweed and Byron Shires there are a lot of Greens. They are everywhere. They are like blowflies at a Barcaldine barbeque. They even have their own newspaper, the Echo. It is the only openly politically aligned newspaper around. While one can respect their industry they show all the hallmarks of their party, including a marked intellectual cowardice.

In all my years of working in animal welfare I have never seen anything to equal that. If you did not see it then go to IView, or there is footage on our Animals Australia website. Just google it but be warned. It is more than shocking.

Inflation is up, and apparently it surprised the lads at the RBA, who immediately signalled the possibility of another interest rate rise. The market immediately factored that one in. As I write this we can now exchange our AUD for 1.092 greenbacks. Wow, over a 100% rise in only 10 years. But who wants greenbacks?

Surely it is time to get on with the job. Rather than debating carbon tax we should be investing in alternative energy, instead of a two speed economy (miners doing well everyone else struggling) we should be rolling out technology such as this. Projects like this create jobs in regional areas and massively reduce our use of fossil fuels.

Despite the appearance that western culture is revelling in bloodlust, perhaps people should be asking their neighbours what they think of this.  Maybe it's the company I keep, but I'm getting a sense of strong disagreement with the glorifying.

Why am I so passionately supporting this cause?  When I first saw the picture with the rope, a day after Trevor died, it was with a chilling realisation of "There but for the grace of God go I"  Actually God didn't have a lot to do with it ... my family and friends did.

History should be at the core of all education. Without an understanding of our incredible history - the story of life - life itself can become meaningless. We must realise that we are a tiny part of a very big picture. Our future is unlimited. Our ancestors understood the need for stories of origin. Now more than ever we need to pass on to the coming generations an incredible story based on truth.

We are really struggling for good leaders when we end up with the likes of Abbott and Gillard as our only choice of Prime Minister, too much bullshit from these two. As many of us do not attend church regularly where are we getting our leadership? We certainly do need a bullshit detector!

Inherent in IPCC climate change projections are continuous trends toward mean global temperatures of 1.8 to 3.6 degrees C by 2100, depending on emission scenarios, as adopted in the Stern and Garnaut reports, giving an impression as if mitigation and/or adaptation can be undertaken at any economically or politically chosen time over the next several decades. Unfortunately this is not the case.
