Management Team

Margo Kingston set the overall direction for Webdiary over the first five and a half years of its existence. She created the charter, ethics, editorial policy, and discussion guidelines we work to.

Comments moderation and selection of pieces to publish was undertaken by volunteers, latterly almost entirely by Richard Tonkin.

Fiona Reynolds was our most consistent editor for 2008-10, and is also a Director of Webdiary Pty Ltd, based in Melbourne.

David Roffey is Company Secretary of Webdiary Pty Ltd. He is based in Sydney. Hamish Alcorn is a Director of Webdiary Pty Ltd. He is based in Brisbane.

Carl Baker created the Website Design. Ian McPherson, David Browning and Nigel Sim built this site and Roger Fedyk is our Archivist. Michael Coleman worked on improving security for the new site. David & Nigel are based at James Cook Uni in Townsville, and Michael is based in Tully – completing the geographic spread of our virtual organization.

Jack Robertson was Contributing Editor at a crucial time through the winter of 2005 in the run-up to the independent Webdiary. Kerri Browne was Deputy Editor, finder and editor of articles and content, and many other roles, through the first several months of Webdiary’s independent existence. Craig Rowley was a Director of the company, writer and editor until June 2007.

Greenhouse gas

I hope someone can fault my analysis and tell me where I am wrong.

Making all houses in Australia energy neutral would satisfy our commitment?

The cost and time needed for retrofitting would not exceed the proposed, now any discussion is concluded, the Nuclear power option?

The sale of coal for electricity would decline but not catastrophically?

The Uranium in the ground would be a loss countered by the cost of waste disposal or actually since we do not know how to dispose of the waste, storage and the military to protect such?

Correction

I am referring to electric energy and its pollution. That is the part which nuclear power will provide. There is a largish amount of Greenmhouse pollution due to the transport sector not at present powered by electricity.

Anti-spam email string query

Are you using the form editor-at-webdiary.com.au  as an anti-spam trick? Are you certain it is effective?

A mouse-hover and View Source check show that the underlying html source still resolves correctly to a live (clickable) mailto: email address (and is thus still vulnerable to a spambot address harvester, surely?)

Hamish: I think it's just a convenient email address, which can be directed to me, or others, as required.
