Wish list

"All I want for Christmas is me two front teef..."

Two weeks to go. I propose - for enjoyment but also for altruism - that every Webdiarist has three wishes: one for the world, one for our dear ones, and one for ourselves.

Go for it - I shall tell you mine on Christmas Eve.

Keeping my promise

Thank you to almost everyone for keeping to the spirit of this thread. Thank you also to almost everyone for making it almost unnecessary for me to add my wishes. However, here goes:

For the world: that our species can do some rapid growing up so that we can deal with the twin evils of damage to the planet and war amongst ourselves, as well as all the other global evils that I don't have space to mention.

For all those close to me: the courage to achieve, to endure, and to know when to let go, and the wisdom to know that happiness takes many forms.

For myself: that all of this may come to pass, and that I never lose the ability to laugh at myself.

To all Webdiarists, have a wonderful holiday season and a marvellous 2008.

Now, please charge your glasses and raise them in a toast - to Webdiary.

Got mine Fiona

Well Fiona: I got my wish for me already. Eight inches of beeootiful rain dumped on the farm in one night. All the dams full again so the frogs are happy too. The town up the road is cut off from the world by our old friend the Castlereagh, but no one is complaining. 

Seven long dry years ending with a bang. Was it true? Or were those terrible years just a bad dream? Funny how the memory fades faster than the overdraft.

Ah yes, out on the Mathaguy, things have definitely looked up.

Cheers. And here's to Hughy. He sure took his time.

Just goes to show what happens when Labor sweeps to power, Jenny. Merry Christmas - and see you and Ian soon.

I demand justice for David Hicks

Yes, it's about time David had his share of justice. Did you notice this on the ABC yesterday, reporting on the contents of one of the dozens of letters David wrote to Terry while training with Lashkar-e-Toiba:

"He wrote about training with the Pakistani group Lashkar-e-Toiba and described how he and three other people fired grenades at Indian soldiers in Kashmir, killing two."

Perhaps we could take up a collection and buy the pair of them an airline ticket on Air India?

Do we have an extradition treaty with India?


ER Do we have an extradition treaty with India?

And if so, get it into an Australian court with specific charges, Mr Chief Justice ER II. What have the Indians said? What are the names of the alleged dead? Anyway, aren't they Asians? Isn't there a risk that the Chijoff-Kelly Sieg K'n Heil Fraktion might put out a poster praising the alleged Hicks letter for cutting down non-Judaeo-Christians? Where does His Honour Justice ER, not at all connected with the Liberal Party's any old extradition court will do, sit with that?

And what did they say in the dirty Liberal Party's grubby Guantanamo Bay? Couldn't they have got Hicks for driving the Bush family's spaceship into all those buildings in New York, as well as loading the sinking SIEV-X, a ship full of refugees, in Java? Do we have an extradition treaty with Indonesia, or with George Bush's home-planet of Mars? Do they have a cruel and stupid system of killing on President Bush 's home, the Red Planet, as with Chief Inspector Keelty's home planet of Bali?

Well, the bloody cat's had its say so I suppose I'd better get in before Alphonse.

For Webdiarists: Happy Hogmanay and keep laughing.    A visit to Death at a Funeral might help - highly recommended - I was crying with laughter.

In 2008 ...

For the world, I hope we see some kind of momentum to work together to avoid environmental catastrophe. (And peace, of course.)

For my loved ones and Webdiarists, lots of love in your lives.

For me, I hope my hare-brained idea to reinvent myself as a journalist pans out.

Not a lot

For the world: Less suffering for all species.

For my loved ones:  That God will keep them all safe and well.

Stitched up David, but let the show go on

Now David, the music might be a bit erratic as the good Scot got himself thrown onto the rocks at the seaside. Cold sober too he was. So he's sporting half a dozen bits of Claude gut.

He'll be right on the night he tells me.  But he's drawn the line at me unstitching him. I think it was when I told him I'd pick up a scalpel at the chemist that did it. No faith in their women these Scots. Then again, I am a bit out of practice and the eyes are not what they used to be, so maybe......

So tune up and be prepared to do more than your bit to liven up the neighbourhood.

For the World I wish for

For the World I wish for peace through strong federation.

For my friends I wish for the same.

For me I wish for personal peace.

Infinite wishes for all

1. A bottle of scotch as big as the Pacific Ocean.

2. An Asian restaurant (right next door) dedicated to serve me yummy stuff when ever I feel like it.

3. An infinite supply of wishes for everyone else to do with as they please.

That should do it.

More Opportunities For The Young

When I saw Fiona's opening statement ("All I want for Christmas is me two front teef..."), there was no doubt in my mind what I would wish for.

  1. More opportunities for young people, whether in entertainment, small business, commerce or industry. The "crushing" of the illegal and immoral "cash" blackmarket system, that glues our young people to dead-end jobs in cafes, restaurants and other service venues, where the "cash till" is the boss, and superannuation, taxation and holidays don't exist. More opportunities for young people, like the gorgeous Connie Talbot, who really does need "me two front teef...". She truly is, without a doubt, the world's best 6 year old singer!
  2. A happy family
  3. A happy me

Santa Claws - I ii

One for the world, one for our dear ones, and one for ourselves saith Fiona (purr, smooge, rub, bite, nip – “Ouch – bastard cat” saith Fiona):

  1. Fewer endangered species much closer to shore in an evolutionarily sustainable way for cats – an end to gerbil warming.
  2. More companion animals for them to care for (except large dogs and ferrets).
  3. I wish for you what I wish for me: that there will be people you care about caring for you, cats to be obeyed and laps to make us all as happy as we can be under the circumstances (those being that we still allow dogs to live – major cause of global warming – they eat anything and fart more than sheep).

Isis and I wish you compliments of the seasoning.

To The Best And To The Rest

I present the most admirable sentiment devised by any person, may we all live like this:

Not apropos Crown Prince Akkimoto's sailing a midget submarine into the Barrier Reef, here's another very minor wish:

to see Peter Garrett stamping out the first of Australia's new five dollar general circulation copper nickel coins, returning to the wildlife motif - a beautiful humpback whale spouting a briny geyser.

1 Survival of the planet

2 For all the religious to be removed from the earth, quickly by their god

3 Humanity to live in a non destructive, progressive way, not enslave animals for their gluttony and to return the planet to a sustainable ecological state for all life forms.

4 To attain a state of conscious eternity with those I love.

Sorry about the 4th one, but 3 wishes is for those living in the 3rd dimension. I'm aiming for the 4th, so need the extra to encourage me

For the world - my loved ones and for me -

Merry Christmas to Margo, the Staff and all contributors.

I Wish

1. For the world : that John Howard, George Bush, Tony Blair and their cohorts would face a war crimes tribunal similar to the Nuremberg Trials. If you study those trials closely you will see these three have committed exactly the same crimes.

2. For my loved ones: same as above. Those who come after me will never live in peace while such men are in power and escape prosecution.

3. For myself: same as above.

No more dead kids

Eric Bogle wrote a song for his last album called "No more dead Kids".


For the world: tolerance and empathy.

For my family: health and happiness.

For me: my first two wishes

Peace be with you.

For the world: Peace!

For my loved ones: Much love and happiness always.

For me: The grace to cope in this 21st century God forsaken world.

3 wishes

For me: My final wish being granted.

For those dearest to me: The opportunity to enjoy the benefits of all the consequential effects of my final wish coming true.

For all of us: An increased desire to understand and make good use of what unites us.

Four Wishes

For the World: some good quality international leadership coming from the United Nations.

For my loved ones: joy.

For myself: a clean sheet in goals next Tuesday.

And a wish that didn't quite fit into the above categories (I know I'm being greedy): that Queensland Roar win the A-League Premiership and the Grand Final, the latter at Lang Park.

In fifty words or less

I would like to see a society less centred on how much can be taken from each other.  If people look after each other the world would turn more easily.

For those close to me, health and happiness obvious.

For myself, a clear path to achieving my aims.  And a few fresh jokes.

3 Wishes

For the World - The demise of all religions.

For my loved ones & all Webdiarists - Another year as good as 2007.

For me - 3 months of fair weather as I sail my new boat around the Whitsundays.
