Still Not Happy, John! Melbourne launch
INVITATION TO AN IMPORTANT BOOK LAUNCH
The Victorian Women's Trust wishes to celebrate the work of acclaimed journalist and author Margo Kingston, by hosting the Melbourne launch of her new book ‘Still Not Happy John'. The Launch will take place next Monday 22 October at 10.30 a.m. - at EQ Café Bar, 100 St. Kilda Rd, City. (Back of the Arts Centre, the first restaurant on the boardwalk of the Yarra.) ‘Still Not Happy John' is a re-published special edition of ‘Not Happy John', Kingston's bestseller in 2004. Penguin Books Australia decided to republish the book in time for this year's federal election. The book focuses on ways in which the Howard Government has attacked our democratic institutions. The book's ethos is very much in line with the Victorian Women's Trust's ‘Purple Sage Project' - a community dialogue based project that revealedthe depth of people's concern about the erosion of democracy during the Kennett Government's tenure in Victoria. Like the Purple Sage Project, Kingston's ‘Still Not Happy John', includes ways in which we as citizens can defend our democracy. It also includes extra chapters on what's happened since 2004. Thanks to the generosity of Dur-e Dara at EQ, the event is free, but please RSVP as soon as possible. Ring the Victorian Women's Trust so we can help confirm numbers, (03) 9642 0422, or by emailing women@vwt.org.au We look forward to seeing you there! ‘Kingston fearlessly takes the Howard government to task on what she sees as themany betrayals of the Australian people and their freedoms' - Sydney Sunday Telegraph ‘Will
ignite fire in the bellies of even the most complacent readers [and]
will appeal to readers of any political stripe, especially those who
see themselves as moderates' - The Age

BRISBANE NOT HAPPY WITH JOHN EITHER!
Please come to Brisbane, but better still, also come up to Ipswich - I'll even help organise and promote, yeah?
launch numbers
Hi. There was a big crowd at the Canberra and Sydney launches - only 14 so far for Melbourne. Perhaps Webdiarists could circulate the invite to Melbourne people they know?

Sydney launch pics
Hello. I put up some pics of the Sydney launch here.
Unfortunately I forgot about the camera most of the time, so if someone else has pics, please email them to me.

Goodness gracious, what blue eyes you have, Dr Duncan.
Recessive genes
Well thank you, Dr Reynolds. Flattery will get you you know.
Fiona: Not flattery, Dr Duncan. Just a plain old statement of fact.

Grateful as I am Margo, stick to writing - even I don't take that bad a picture.
Margo: Yeah, I'm hopeless. Got any yourself?
Photos
Photographing myself could, in some quarters, be regarded as vulgar.
Yours aye,

Margo you sounded like the fire is back in the belly only better directed.
Excellent interview with Philip so are you coming to Adelaide?
Richard: While seconding the question, here's the link to Margo's "Still Happy John" interview with Mr Adams.Melbourne Launch
I am away when your launch is on so i will not be able to attend. I've got my signed copy of Not happy John which holds pride of place in my book collection and now I've got the Still not happy version to keep it company after it has been read and re read from cover to cover.
I am saddened but not surprised to hear about the effect Not Happy John had on your job in the media. After the first book was released you seemed to disappear from lateline and the media. After starting to read the new book i now know why. The reasons why people like yourself and others who speak out are persecuted is that not enough people speak out or show concern about injustice and due process.many people are out for what they can get for themselves instead of what they can do for the community which is unfortunate and sadly a sign of the times and the values of the two major political parties. I'm glad you haven't gone away and I'm glad you have continued to muster the fortitude, courage and resources to perservere despite all the obstacles thrown in your path.
At the end of the day the thoughts and actions of people like yourself who refuse to run with the pack and insist on standing up for decency and fair play is absolutely essential for the preservation of civil society which is currently surviving by a mere thread. The key to ousting the lunatics who have taken over the asylum is the activism of principled people who are prepared to confront the insanity, the lies and deceit of thosecurrently running the biggest asylum of all the Australian political system. You have taken up the cudgels on behalf of decency, fair play and democracy itself and for that you must be commended and celebrated far andwide. Best of luck with your book and the Melbourne launch and i hope that some day I will be able to get your signature on my copy.
Keep up the fight and keep searching for the truth.
Regards
Terry Costello
