Some analyses.

G'day F Kendall, "internal contradiction", I like it. Here are some articles that address the SOTU.

Stephen Zunes - Bush's SOTU: Annotated.

Lots of internal contradictions pointed out.

Greg Palast - Off the Rails, Big Oil, Big Brother Win Big in the State of the Union.

James Ridgeway - The State of the President's Leadership - Bought Off.

David Olive - Forgettable words from an irrelevant president.

Not so irrelevant as he could still do a lot more damage. See a Robert Scheer article I linked on Irises earlier today.

Green Bush!!

Heard some of it live. Too boring to listen to it all as it's just a diversion. Even discussing the economy? Good grief, he may ring JWH for help although JWH will be standing by for his Australia policy given we are now the only country left not environmentally driven. Turnbull maybe but I doubt it.

The US people aren't that dumb. 4+ years of sending boys to their death, no help for the unemployed, homeless, health fund absent. Why would they be even interested in Bush's words.

Diversion, desperately so.

Whatcha gonna do JWH? Dig through Libs old policy folders for a change? Ask Amanda mate, I'm sure she'd love to tell you her opinion(s).

Perhaps John could find 21,500 school leavers dumb enough to go.

For those wanting easy money (I hope) Start piling it on Labor. $2.15 right now. I usually lose bets but do get my share of good priced wins and this feels like one. Haven't bet on politics before but it's time as Gough often said.

Another betting aside you may be unaware of. The more people bet on a political party, the more often they win the election. They vote as they bet you see.

Enough 2 Party barracking.

Internal contradiction

Bush has not addressed the internal contradiction of his position re Iraq.   He posits his stance, and US support,  on demanding that the Iraqi government toe the line, breast the bar, come up to scratch, deliver the goods, and all manners of demands.

But if the "consequences of failure would be grievous and far reaching" for America, then America has to stay there, irrespective of what the Iraqi government does or does not do.

Is it true that the USA is building an embassy in Baghdad, covering 114 acres, the largest embassy in the world?
