There should be questions.

Howard is well known for capitalising on anything that may hopefully help to hide his incompetent and dispassionate Government.

A young man has lost his life while serving his country and his family and friends are entitled to grieve in their own way and not be used as political pawns.

The charade surrounding this man's tragedy is appalling. I have just witnessed on TV how his own company plus a contingent of
Americans and another of British troops were lined up to farewell the young fellow's coffin as it was boarded upon an aircraft.

I feel safe in saying that no such personal politicing was used for the US thousands nor the several hundred Brits who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The obscene view of Howard hosting the American President to lay a wreath for Sgt Russell - killed in Afghanistan - is still vivid in my mind.  And the arrogant way he "dismissed" the idea of apologising to that soldier's wife because she "was not invited" is vivid in my memory.  Against the panic of the media's inability to completely white-wash him over the AWB (as yet) - do we think he may put on a disgusting performance to con the people - yet again.  The only things certain about this person is that he is a commensurate liar and without dignity at all.

A new low for the SMH

Perhaps this should be in the media category, however I felt that this was an appropriate site for an indictment of the SMH.

"Let me say this" - as a once reader of the Sydney Morning Herald I have been disgusted in the last two elections at the "Tabloid" methods creaping into this newspaper - and I have recently criticised it in this forum.

However, the "article" on the SMH net page today, Sunday 23 April 2006, nominated as "Dead Iraq Digger Named" - AND NOT EVEN PAID THE RESPECT OF THE AUTHOR ALSO BEING NAMED - is one of the most putrid examples of the media sullying the dignity of an Australian soldier in his last moments!!

May I quote some sections for people of reason and compassion?

"The Department said Private Kovco died in hospital surrounded by his mates, draped in the Australian Flag and with a paratrooper's beret on his chest as his mates said the Lord's Prayer"!

Would you think that that should be only for the family to know? If it really happened? All servicemen know that a Soldier is "Posted" to his place of duty BUT Private Kovco was SELECTED for Infantry Corps... and SELECTED for service in the 3rd. Battalion. He was SELECTED for deployment to Iraq... and to add insult to injury, Lord Downer of Baghdad was the person who spoke of this tragedy.

Howard is still writing his Presidential address for Anzac Day (after he has commercialised and desecrated Anzac Cove) or he is just "passing the buck" again. I am as sick of this type of Howardistic garbage as I was when Howard invited his Superior, George W. Bush to lay a wreath in the name of Sgt. Russell (Afghanistan) AND DID NOT EVEN INVITE THE SOLDIER'S WIFE TO ATTEND.

"Just let me say this" - the Howard government is the most disgusting example of depraved indifference I have ever been ashamed to be involved with.  And the media, especially the American CEO of SMH, should also be thoroughly ashamed. How about naming the author?

Strategy

As I posted previously, what bloody stategy?
